The difficult birth of a baby calf - extraordinary.

This was humbling to watch.  So extraordinary, and yet just nature at work.  The mother cow was about 6 years old, and this was perhaps her 4th calf.  But he was very large (a boy) and she struggled. It was painful and exhausting, and she needed help from a human who pulled her baby out with her contractions.  It was a remarkable sight. At the Fair Oaks Farms an hour from Chicago.
