Super Mario Star Road - 0 Star Speedrun in 2:52

This is the result of 7 days of hard work and I'm really happy with it.

The hyperjump is a lot more luck dependant than it might seem: often you break out of the BLJ too early due to bad spacing, sometimes you lose all your speed in the middle of the BLJ, sometimes the jump into the water just doesn't work and sometimes you bonk right before the hyperjump due to bad spacing. To top it all off, sometimes you just don't have enough speed to jump high enough to make it onto the tower which has killed multiple of my attempts.

The deluxe version has a "hard mode" feature which you activate by pressing L on the file select screen, doing so makes you die instantly upon taking damage which would save time for the death warp in the wing cap stage, except for the fact that getting a damage-less hyperjump is super rare. It also makes the hyperjump itself way more luck dependant than it already is due to the fact that for some reason the overworld actually has a death barrier on the deluxe version so you'll almost always just clip through the star-shaped island when attempting the hyperjump.
