Step-by-step instructions on how to spit splice yarn to join a new ball

The spit splice, sometimes also felted splice or wet splice, is a super easy and invisible way to join new yarn in knitting. This method works especially well if you are only working on one color. It relies on the fact that you can felt organic fibers.
The spit splice works for sheep wool, cashmere, alpaca, silk, camel hair, etc
It won't work for plant-based fibers like cotton, linen, hemp, or so. Superwash yarn cannot be joined using the spit splice either.
I recommend thinning out the two ends you want to join before so you don't end up with a visibly thicker section.
