Andy Webb, RFU Coach Development
Andy Webb, RFU Coach Development Officer, introduces a game to improve agility and reaction when making a tackle.
How it works:
Round 1
Player 1 puts a bib (‘tail’) into the back of his shorts
Player 1 carries the ball and tries to evade Player 2
Player 2 tries to ‘Tag the tail’ from Player 2 in whatever way he can.
Round 2
Player 2 can now no longer ‘Tag the Tail’ with one hand
Player 2 must get both hands around the body of Player 1 (a ‘Ring of Steel’) when trying to ‘Tag the Tail’.
It’s great for encouraging good footwork in order to make an effective tackle.
Give it a go!

We think you should give that a go too!
