What's the greatest game of 2017? That's right, Crash Bandicoot N.Sane Trilogy, and to celebrate I've created my own level music influenced by the game's soundtrack.

Having enjoyed this blast from the past on the PS4 this past week, I decided I wanted to have a go at creating my own music in the same style as the game's. This is the first of them, and its specifically tailored towards the jungle levels of Crash Bandicoot 1.

The first Crash Bandicoot score (composed by Josh Mancell, who incidentally wrote the music for Crash 2 and 3 too, but sadly wasn't involved in the remastered trilogy) differs quite a bit from its sequels. It's much more simple, primitive, and less rock-y. It really relies on its percussion and very straightforward marimba grooves, and that's what I love about it. Not to mention the peppering of jungle ambient noises, which I've tried to recreate in mine (courtesy of freesfx.co.uk)

With this piece I've tried to emulate that primitive sound you hear in the first Crash game, but perhaps I've gone a little overboard (a terrible habit of mine :c ) I also have other tracks in progress, one that has that more futuristic style of Crash 3 and poppy style of Crash 2.

Many thanks to Disfigured Stick for letting me use this fabulous Crash Bandicoot artwork to accompany my track. Please take a moment to view their awesome work:

Enjoy.
