From OpenStack to Harvester A window into Hyperconverged Infrastructure

SUSE no longer offers converged infrastructure (CI) products such as SUSE OpenStack Cloud (SOC), as the market has shifted toward cloud-native hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI). For HCI, SUSE's solution is Harvester, powered by Rancher Kubernetes Engine 2 (RKE2) and Longhorn.

As an OpenStack developer, and a member of the SUSE Cloud Solutions team, I got an opportunity to work on Harvester by helping with building the test automation framework. The work has given me a unique window into Harvester, from tester/user point of view. Coming from OpenStack background, I came away impressed.

In this session I will share what I learned from Harvester; how does it different from OpenStack; and how it can be viable solution for current CI customers looking to make a switch.
