HNO3 is a strong acid, so every single HNO3 molecule breaks apart into an H(+1) ion and an NO3(-1) ion. This means 0.1 mol/L of HNO3 yields 0.1 mol/L of H(+1) ions. So the pH is -log(0.1) = -(-1) = 1... it's a pH of exactly one !
