Join us for a relaxed
Join us for a relaxed springtime stroll through Copenhagen, Denmark. Our journey commences at Østerport Station, leading us through the scenic park surrounding Kastellet, a historic military fort. Amidst the blooming spring flowers and vibrant foliage of Kastellet, we encounter notable landmarks such as Svenska Gustafskyrkan (The Swedish Church), Kastelsmøllen (a windmill), and the North Gate entrance to Kastellet.
Continuing our exploration, we meander past Langelinie Yacht Club and onward to the iconic "Little Mermaid" statue, Den Lille Havfrue. Along Langelinie, we revel in the festivities of the annual Copenhagen Sakura Festival, where cherry blossoms adorn the landscape. In 2024 the Copenhagen Sakura Festival takes place from the 20-21 April, more information about that on the Copenhagen Sakura Festival website https://sakurafestival.dk/ Our route then leads us across Gefion Bridge, offering captivating views of Copenhagen Harbour and the seaside Tolboden restaurant/café.
Next, we arrive at Amalienborg Palace, the official residence of the Danish Royal Family, where we admire the regal architecture and observe the Royal Guards. Descending Amalienborg Palace Square, we proceed to Frederik's Church, affectionately known as Marmor Kirken (The Marble Church) by locals. A brief stroll down Store Kongensgade and past Sankt Annæ Plads brings us to the vibrant waterfront of Nyhavn.
Nyhavn enchants us with its bustling atmosphere, lined with charming restaurants, cafés, and bars. We soak in the lively ambiance as canal sightseeing boats set sail from the harbor. Adjacent to Nyhavn lies Kongens Nytorv, where we can savor authentic Danish hot dogs from local vendors or enjoy a leisurely drink at "Taarnet på Kongens Nytorv" café.
Springtime brings the bustling Kongens Nytorv Antique & Design Market to life, offering a treasure trove of unique finds on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Finally, our excursion concludes with a visit to the underground Copenhagen Metro, conveniently accessible from Kongens Nytorv Metro Station.
