London features in hundreds of movies, from classic films to Netflix series and sci-fi blockbusters.

But there are some famous movie scenes were filmed in London, but you probably didn't know about it. Here are some scenes that I spotted myself over the last few years. Let me know in the comments if you've spotted London in other films.

Inception

Christopher Nolan was born and raised in London, so no wonder he likes to film some scenes of his films here. Inception is one of them. The interior of the College of Architecture, where Cobb finds Miles, was filmed at University College London, where Nolan has studied himself. But the room Miles is in was not filmed in the library but on the floor above, in the university's Gustave Tuck Theatre. The crew had to adjust the room for filming as the windows seen in Inception don't exist in the theatre.

The scene where Cobb meets Ariadne to invite her to his team is also filmed at UCL, in Flaxman Gallery.

Another scene from Inception that was filmed in London is the Mombasa pharmacy of Yusuf, where Cobb obtains a powerful sedative that will allow three levels of dreaming. The scene is filmed in Farmiloe Building on St John Street in Smithfield.

Christopher Nolan really likes this building, as it features in another of his films, which I'll talk about later in the video.

Andor

Most of this Star Wars series was filmed in the United Kingdom, but the scenes filmed in London are particularly interesting.

Barbican Centre was used as a location on Coruscant, where Kleya Marki and Vel Sartha meet. The estate is heavily transformed with CGI, but if you've ever been to Barbican before, it's hard to miss the iconic brutalist features of this landmark.

Another London location you can spot in Andor is the exterior of the Imperial Security Bureau. The sci-fi-looking bridge here is not CGI; it's the Adams Plaza Bridge in Canary Wharf.

Disney is now producing season two of the series, and apparently a lot scenes are currently being filmed at Barbican and Canary Wharf again.

Batman trilogy

Yes, Christopher Nolan really likes filming in London, even if the film is set in Gotham. Just like in Inception, some scenes were filmed in Nolan's alma mater - University College London. For example, in Batman Begins, the university's National Institute for Medical Research is used as Arkham Asylum.

The Farmiloe Building - the pharmacy from Inception I mentioned earlier, was used as Gotham police station in all three films of the Batman trilogy.

The Gotham State Court, where Bruce Wayne goes to avenge the man who murdered his parents, is also another location in London. It is Senate House at the University of London on Malet Street.

One of the key scenes of The Dark Knight, where Joker blows up Rachel in an abandoned warehouse, was filmed in Battersea Power Station. When this scene was being filmed, the emergency services in London were flooded with calls from residents frightened by the noise late at night.

Battersea Power Station is a decommissioned coal-fired power station located on the south bank of the River Thames. It is one of the biggest brick buildings in the world. This iconic structure features in many other films, such as Children of Men, The King’s Speech, and Lara Croft.

Tenet

Since this list mainly consists of Nolan films, let's include another one. Hit the like button if you're also a Christopher Nolan fan.

Tenet was filmed in some incredible locations around the world, and just like most of the other Nolan films, he just had to film some scenes in London, too.

The scene where Pro meets Agent Crosby is filmed in the Reform Club, a private members' club on Pall Mall. This club's fascinating interiors can be found in many other films, including two James Bond films, Guy Ritchie's Sherlock Holmes, Paddington, and many others.

'Cannon Hall School', where Kat meets her son Max, is another fascinating location in London. It's actually not a school – it is Cannon Hall located in Hampstead.

So, have you spotted London in any recent films you've seen? Let me know in the comments.
