In this episode of Golu Sevai 2020, a celebration of Day 2 of Navaratri, we are delighted to bring you the following esteemed artists and young presenters:

Introduction by NavaDarshana Faculty Member, Smt. Anjana Anand.

Sanskrit Verse of the day by Dr. C Hariharan:
Dr. C. Hariharan is an Assistant Professor in Sanskrit and the Director of Digital Campus at the The Madras Sanskrit College. He is also teaching a bridge course in Distance Education in Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan and delivers lectures for the Samskruta Academy Madras. He holds two M.A degrees from the Madras Sanskrit College in Sanskrit in Specialising Mimamsa. Dr. C. Hariharan has won four Gold Medals and one Silver medal in National Level Competitions, organized by Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan (Central Government) representing Tamil Nadu for the past consequent five years; in the last edition, he won three gold medals in Mimamsa , 1 gold and silver medal for Puraana Itihaasa.

Adavu Session led by Santosh Nair:
Santosh G Nair has been passionately performing Bharatanatyam for over two decades and is currently doing her research in the same field. Having initially trained under the able guidance of Guru V S Ramamoorthy and Guru Smt Manjula Ramaswamy, she is currently under the guidance pf Guru Priyadarshini Govind. Santosh is a CCRT, HRD and Pandit Jasraj scholarship holder from India and an empanelled member of SPICMACAY. Authored two books in the field of dance; Santosh has also received the international scholarship for intense training from Milapfest, 2017. Santosh has performed on many prestigious platforms both in India and abroad and is also the recipient of numerous prestigious awards.

Ritual, Significance and Practice by Dr. S. Raghuraman:
Dr S. Raghuraman is a retired Associate Professor in Tamil. He is a research guide in the fields of  Tamil Literature and Bharatanatyam in Bharatiyar University, Coimbatore, and has thus far guided  over 16 PhD Students and 46 MPhil Students to a successful completion of their research programs. Over the past many decades, he has enriched the world of music and dance with his knowledge of a  number of tamizh works. He has authored several books seminal to dancers, including Tamizhar  Natana Varalaaru (History of Tamizh’s Dance) and Natana Kalaichol Kalanjiyam. He has presented  numerous papers for national and international seminars, on a wide range of topics on dance  including rasa theory, ashta nayakis of the Sangam age, Tholkaapiyam, Koothanool, Meipaatiyal  among others. He is presently a visiting faculty at The Kalakshetra Foundation, Chennai.

Kummi by Kirthana Ravikumar and Anjana Srinivasan:
Kirthana Ravikumar has been learning Bharatanatyam for the past 15 years and is very passionate about dancing. She is currently under the tutelage of Smt Anjana Anand. A designer by profession, she also runs her own clothing label under the name- Arodhi and is looking at expanding it to other fields of art in the future.

Anjana Srinivasan has been learning bharatanatyam for 18 years and is currently under the tutelage of Smt Anjana Anand. She has a keen interest in carnatic music as well. A biotechnologist by education, she is looking forward to change her course of career to expand and reach out to boundaries that help her stay in touch with her passion.

Devi Krithi by Lakshmy Gopal:
Lakshmy Gopal is a young disciple of Dr. Sudha Raja. Dr. Sudha Raja holds a doctorate in Indian Music from the University of Madras.  She has been training school groups and communities in Choral singing & Indian Carnatic Music for the past 2 decades. She regularly conducts workshops and presentations to students in India and abroad on various aspects of music training and performance.  Her latest association with MILAPFEST in Liverpool was greatly appreciated.  She holds numerous awards and regularly presents papers on Musicology and other aspects of Music performance all over the world. In addition, she founded SARGAM CHOIR in 2011 which has performed all over the world and won International Acclaim in the World Choir Games as well as the Asia Pacific Choir games regularly.  Sargam has also performed in the Royal Albert Hall, London as part of the International  Youth Choir Festival in 2017.
