Have you ever wanted to cook a healthy quick breakfast for your family but time just seems to evaporate? There's not enough time in the morning to get everybody out the door with a healthy breakfast and sometimes you grab those pop tarts or those grab and go protein bars.


But I'm going to share with you a very good, healthy, very nutritious breakfast bar that you can even enjoy when you're on the Daniel fast. This is one of those breakfasts that you can enjoy on the Daniel fast or anytime of the year.

We're going to do the chewy breakfast bars, and it is found on page 31 of my healthy treasures cookbook.

Here are the ingredients for this Daniel Fast breakfast homemade granola bar:

3 cups(720ml) old-fashioned oats»

1 cup(240ml) whole wheat flour,any variety»

1 cup(240ml) protein powder»

1 teaspoon bakingpowder»

1 teaspoon bakingsoda»

¼ teaspoon nutmeg»

½ teaspoon cinnamon»

1¼ cups(300ml)unsweetened apple sauce»

½ cup(120ml) sucanat,either variety»

1 teaspoon vanilla»

½ cup(120ml) raisins,dried cranberries,dried chopped apples or a mixture of all three

What makes these Daniel fast breakfast homemade granola bars even more special is the protein powder I add in for that boost of protein. You can also turn this granola bar recipe into gluten-free by using a special flour such as pecan flour, which of course you can make yourself 2 Ways to Make Flour at Home | Blende...
. Just buy pecans and mill them at home using the mini mill. It is cheaper and healthier than store-bought pecan flour.

Next, I would normally use cinnamon for this recipe. But to change it up a bit, I would use pumpkin pie spice for that nice variety. You can make one yourself, so it’s healthier.

Vanilla extract adds a lovely flavor to this homemade cereal bar. But be sure to buy the real one and not the imitation. Another thing I would put in this granola bars recipe is applesauce. I would use my homemade applesauce because it is unsweetened, which makes it suitable for the Daniel Fast.

Once you have everything all mixed up in your bowl, put the mixture in a 9 x 13 baking dish. Pop it in the oven at 300 degrees for 20 minutes, and it’s going to come out as a perfect breakfast bar for the Daniel fast!
