We grow this corn grass
We grow this corn grass ourselves, and it takes about 7 days for this grass to grow tall and sturdy like in this video. The last few weeks we've had a lot of dry corn kernels. One of the advantages of dry corn kernels is that they can be stored for a longer time compared to wet corn which can rot in just a few days. But wet corn is easier for the birds to serve, and the birds prefer it, at least the birds at our place. In our experience, dry corn kernels need to be soaked for at least 24 hours before being fed to the lovebirds at our place, and during that time the water should be replaced with the soaked corn so that there is no excessive fermentation smell.
In this video, the java sparrow doesn't seem to eat much of this corn grass. Usually if we give them leafy vegetables, the sparrows will eat a lot of them. But this time it doesn't seem like that, I don't know if it's because they don't like it or they're not used to eating this kind of grass. But as far as I know, this type of grass has proven to be harmless for omnivorous animals to eat.
