Roshana Nofret - Persian Classical Court Dance

"Segah", from album "Iranian Traditional and Folk Dance Music: Persian Dances - Vol. 4" Roshana performs a Classical Persian dance, in elaborate authentic costuming which has been meticulously designed after dresses seen in Persian miniature paintings of the Qajar period (1785-1925). Hand/ arm motions, small hip movements and facial expressions are points of attention in this delicately coquettish and sensual dance. The dance itself is highly individualistic and also heavily relies on improvisation. In this piece, Roshana dances with the Dayereh, a medium-sized Persian frame drum with jingles.
