Markus Jooste no-show at German courts: Kganki Matabane

Markus Jooste was due to face his first criminal case in Germany over accounting irregularities of various Steinhoff subsidiaries. The move comes five years after the South African retail giant was rocked by an accounting scandal that resulted in Steinhoff's share price plunging by 90% with shareholders losing up to R200-billion in share value. A German investigation dating back to 2015 has now led to criminal charges against Jooste and two other former directors of Steinhoff's subsidiary company.
