This video shows a number of options for supplying power to your vintage PRC-77 backpack radio.

These iconic radios were originally powered by varying types of batteries including the magnesium non-rechargeable battery.  Although you can still find these magnesium batteries today, they are often approaching 30 years of shelf life and have corroded cells.

A more frequently used battery option is a D-cell adapter.  As shown in the video, these adapters accept 10 D-cell batteries and are a convenient and popular way to provide power to the radio.  The down side is that once the batteries are depleted, they are trash and can be expensive if you replace them frequently.

12V vehicle adapters that can plug into your cigarette lighter are also available.  An example of this kind of supply is shown.

Finally, a rechargeable solution can be made using a 12V gel cell battery.  Take a look!
