The Alisea concept celebrates Pagani's 25th anniversary.
IED is a joint project of Turin design students and Pagani.
The full-scale model updates the classic Zonda design for the 2020s.
Long the new kid on the supercar block, Pagani isn't so new anymore. The Modena-based brand turns 25 this year, and to celebrate this milestone, Pagani has joined forces with a team of intern designers to create the concept hypercar called Alisea.

The full-scale prototype is the work of students from the IED Transportation Design Master's Program in Turin, Italy. These students worked with Pagani at every stage of the project, from sketching the vehicle to creating digital 3D models and finally creating the 1:1 concept.

Occupying the same road space as the original Zonda, the 4,520 mm-long (178 in) Alisea rides on a 2,795 mm (110 in) wheelbase, but its roofline sits less than 75 mm (3 in) closer to the ground. The visual connection to the Zonda - and to a lesser extent, the Huayra that replaces it - is obvious, but the IED team says it paid special attention to the surface finish to make the body as clean as possible.

Unlike most combustion supercars, the Alisea has no side air intakes, always trying to send large amounts of air to its central engines and cooling radiators. This was a look Horacio Pagani achieved on the original Zonda by placing the air intakes both above and below the main quarter panels, so they didn't draw your attention.

IED assures that the lack of ventilation and air intakes is not due to the switch to electric power: students say that there is still an AMG V12 behind the seats, or at least it would be if it were more than a design study.

The bubble canopy takes inspiration from 1980s Group C endurance racers, as on the Zonda, but the curves are softer and more organic, and the IED team has updated Pagani's trademark quad-headlight look and also slimmed down the famous A-pillar mirrors.

Giant wheel arches at each corner emphasize the low height of the rear deck, and the rear end is dominated by a space rocket-style exhaust setup that emerges from the center of the tail; This is another Pagani design classic.
