GRIT | Running across Iceland from north to south

In the summer of 2022, three amateur trail runners set out to run across Iceland. Spanning 340 kilometers across barren landscapes, lava fields, rivers, and rhyolite ‘rainbow’ mountains, the famed north-to-south traverse from Akureyri to Vik demands several weeks for advanced hikers. Scotswoman Julie Hewison, Frenchwoman Marie Gamen and American Carol Passarelli plan to cover it in just eight days.

An incredible story of partnership and perseverance, GRIT follows the trio throughout their attempt, getting up close and personal with the extreme physical and mental demands that ultra distances entail, and confronting the question: what is pushing the limits, and what is going too far?
