This video is a response
This video is a response to your questions about the tape that I use to add a border to my watercolor paintings and how to not tear your paper when you remove the tape. Masking tape is an easy way to create a frame around your paintings. You can also use it for your drawings, just make sure you can apply the tape and remove it without tearing your paper first. When removing the tape, go slowly and tear it parallel to the paper. If it does start to tear, go to the other side of the tape and continue removing it. Some artists leave the tape in their artwork, or use it as a way to mask out lines within their work, not just a border. Good luck!
Also I had luck using scotch tape to mask my border, but I would not recommend it. It is much harder to remove, and will stick to your paper more than masking tape.
