Hi Supra fans. Thanks for viewing The Supra Schnauzer channel. This video will show you how to safely remove your MKIV Toyota Supras headliner without breaking any of the plastics or tearing any of the moldings. For instructions to read and follow if needed while watching this video please see below.

Make sure that your targa top is placed somewhere safe, strong, secure and soft so that you can’t drop or break or scratch anything on your targa top.

On the left and right sides on the corners of the targa top there is left and right ends of the moulding. In the center of these two end caps of the moldings there will be a screw on each side. Remove screw. I recommend doing one side of the targa top at a time so you don’t get ahead of yourself.

With a pry tool or something soft scrape the sealant off around the entire end caps. I found it helpful to use my index finger to access the area and softly wiggle the moulding and break the sealant around the caps. DO NOT PULL UP OR PULL OFF THE PLASTIC OR MOULDING Now working from the top of the targa tops headliner (targa top will be facing upside down like shown in video) gently pull DOWN on the moulding. There will be 4 phillips screws. One at each end and the other two about 4” away from the ends. Unscrew the screws. Now the tricky part. It’s actually not too bad just be gentle and patient and take your time. Work the end caps of the moulding off. Make sure they are loose and free of headliner on both left and right corner. Wiggle, gently, move entire weather strip/moulding on both sides at same time and in the middle and back and forth doing this. Entire weather stripping / moulding part will come off in one piece! Viola!

DO NOT take off the weatherstripping / moulding from the exterior moulding side, you will tear/rip/break the moulding and you will need have to buy new ones and it’s $$$$$$$$

This is the easiest way that I’ve found to get the targa top headliner off without breaking or tearing anything. When finished just put on in the reverse order as you took off. You can re use everything and you won’t need to order new seals / moulding. You might want to reseal moulding but I’ll leave that decision up to you. Some silicone did the trick for me. Toyota might have an actual silicone / sealant they sell but that’s a question for Toyota parts.

Take care Supra Fam.
