Pocky & Rocky Reshrined is
Pocky & Rocky Reshrined is a brand new remake of the 1992 SNES game by Natsume. Following Wild Guns Reloaded and The Ninja Warriors Once Again, the original developers have once again returned to one of their classics and completely overhauled every aspect of it. As usual, they've done a fantastic job with all of the changes and improvements they've made. They've added new playable characters (all with unique weapons and special attacks), new stages, new mechanics, and they even seem to have implemented a good scoring system, complete with online leaderboards. What more could you ask for? (Online play?)
This is a playthrough of the story mode, on hard difficulty. In story mode, you have preset characters for each, but if you want to play through the game with just one character, you can do that in "free mode." That's probably what I'll be doing next. This game isn't very hard to clear, so most people shouldn't worry about the difficulty. You get several 1UPs from the shops throughout the game, and plenty of bombs to help you through difficult sections. The scoring system seems good at first glance, so that could keep you busy after you clear the game.
This won't be out in America for at least another month (for PS4 and Switch), but if you don't want to wait, you can get it right now on the Japanese PSN or eshop for around 4100 yen, fully translated into English (and without the censored character portrait, lol). I'm playing on the PS5, by the way.
