Pterinopelma sazimai is named after Dr. Ivan Sazim, the Brazilian zoologist who first discovered this species in 1971 and studied it for 10 years with Sylvia Lucas. The species were found at high altitudes with poor vegetation and extreme weather conditions (15-35 ° C), experiencing periods of heavy rainfall and drought.
