Camden Town is London’s famous hub of counter culture. Famed for the Camden Market, eclectic bars and cabaret theatres and the buffet of ethnic food and music, Camden attracts punks, goths, ravers, musicians, artists and now tourists from all over the world. Join me today as we do a walking tour through Camden Town and the famed Camden Market.
While Camden Market has become more mainstream in recent years, it still carries the energy of revolution - both musically and politically. Historically, was a place where outsiders went to connect with others on the fringe of culture. Infamous artists like The Clash, The Sex Pistols, and Amy Winehouse (Camden Market even has an Amy Winehouse statue) were all frequent visitors of Camden Lock Market and often created music and performed there. It was the epitome of counterculture in the '70s and '80s. Camden makes for a great day trip in London and draws many tourists today, particularly for its eclectic shopping experiences ranging from hippie markets to Camden's very own Cyber Dog, a Cyber Goth store dedicated to rave culture!
