Mazda's range has become somewhat confusing in recent years, and the automaker is poised to release yet another SUV with seating for seven passengers. The CX-90 was released earlier this year in the United States, and now the CX-80 will arrive in Europe.
The crossover appears to be an elongated CX-60 with a third row, as evidenced by the striking similarity between the two vehicles seen in the spy photographs. However, the CX-80 features a different third-quarter window design and longer rear doors. We can also make out what looks like a more conventional back pillar.
At first glance, the CX-80 seems very similar to its compact sibling. However, a closer investigation reveals a few design differences that were implemented in the larger model to make room for the third row of seats. More metal may be seen behind the back doors of the crossover, especially around the gas cap. The rear quarter windows on the test vehicle are substantially larger than those of a standard CX-60.
