Australian Consumer Law -- Chapter 7 -- Unfair contract terms

The ACL outlaws unfair terms in standard form consumer contracts. Courts can void a term if it is deemed unfair. A term may be considered unfair if it would cause significant imbalance between the rights and obligations of the parties under the contact, is not necessary to protect the legitimate interests of the party relying upon it, and it would cause detriment if it were to be relied upon.
