Is there anyone more evil, more vile than The Lich?
From the adventure time wikia:
GOLB is a malevolent entity who inhabits an unknown dimension.
He is first seen briefly at the end of "Puhoy." After old Finn dies in the Pillow World and is being warped back to his own reality, he bounces off GOLB's tongue.
He is mentioned later in "You Forgot Your Floaties". While inside Magic Man's mind, Betty witnesses a memory of him and Grob Gob Glob Grod discussing GOLB at an unknown date in the past. It is revealed that GOLB attacked Mars at some point and "took" Magic Man's wife, Margles. Grob Gob Glob Grod believes that GOLB will return and Magic Man agrees, using the threat of GOLB as a pretext for building a security system on Mars that takes the shape of Margles. Later, Magic Man changes his mind, claiming that Grob Gob Glob Grod is wrong and GOLB is "probably not coming back."
The Lich calls himself the "last scholar of GOLB" in "Whispers."

I do not believe GOLB is God, or the destroyer, i believe he is something more...
GOLB is a inter-dimensional being, someone beyond the boundaries of dimensions, even to the point of traveling outside them...
I support this by various reasons...
He has only been seen outside the realm of the dimensions, remember, even Prismo's room is a dimension (as shown by the multi-universal and multi-dimensional talk on the The Enchiridion)
Prismo cannot bring back Margles, though if GOLB truly wanted to erase Margles from existence, he would also erase memories of Margles, making me believe he put her in a outer-dimensional area, somewhere even an omnipotent Wishmaster can't touch...
GOLB resembles a combination of multiple dimensions, 1st is the obvious Crystal Dimension, 2nd is the Spirit World, 3rd is the Nightosphere, 4th is the current dimension.
all the current cosmic entities have a "boss", as said by Prismo and shown by Cosmic Owl, i think GOLB is merely an escapee of this "boss" or might be the boss itself, though i find this unlikely as GGGG and Magic Man wanted to prepare against the next oncoming of GOLB, and both of which are cosmic entities. Because of this i believe GOLB found a way to transcend away from this boss and his system...
I also believe GOLB to be the most powerful entity in the Multiverse/Multi-Dimensions thanks to the ability that GOLB found to escape existence and become one with the eternal darkness. the "boss" controls the Multiverse, GOLB controls the void.
also i believe GOLB is one of the monsters before existence, much like Orgalorg, but unlike Orgalorg, he sought out for knowledge and freedom, i believe because of his high knowledge of the Multiverse and the power from it, he started a cosmic religion. GGGG was named after GOLB, though GGGG started to become a cosmic entity of his own, and possibly influenced the cosmos that GOLB was not the God he seemed, but merely a monster.
with GOLB's large amount of wisdom to escape existence entirely, might possibly give him the possibility of destroying it, my theory for his "wisdom" is that every time he is seen, he is shown to be strangely in a meditation position. this might be why Pillow Dimension was destroyed, and he might not be malevolent, but instead keeping the course of peace by repeating the endless cycle. This is shown by how he follows Finn and the Cosmic Entities, and the Lich. From the fact he destroyed Pillow Dimension to possibly teach Finn of what destruction is, to help him continue his quest, and not let silly and insignificant things like Love get in the way of that. The fact he attacked Mars, and took Margles, causing Magic Man to become much more crazy, and GGGG to become increasingly worried about his people being killed.
He also was visible in the promotional art of Astral Plane, showing he (along with the ability to create or destroy existence, or create existence outside of existence) can also manipulate the existence of certain realities, that he may had gotten Finn to go into the Astral Plane for that time on purpose, as Time is an illusion, you can see the future, shown by the "Future Crystal".
In Graybles 1000+ and Lemonhope, we can see something devastating happened, which ultimately lead to peace in another post-apocalyptic world. From this we know GOLB didn't destroy everything, merely restarted the cycle Marceline talks about in Stakes.
