Part 2 of the Super
Part 2 of the Super Reverb amp repair. Part 1 consisted of initial test, power supply, checkout with original tube set installed. Turned out that the negative bias circuit was not working, that was the cause of overheating. With that resolved we now move into eyelet cap replacement and repair of the Vibrato circuit. I also installed a new set of matched Tung-sol 6L6 tubes. Tony C came over to run the amp thru his acid test. Passed! He loves it. The amp is now running great, stock configuration, no mods performed. The 15 year old owner will love this amp. I love seeing the new generation appreciating old technology. Fender amps rule! Also in this video, I tested a Hioki DT-4256 digital Multimeter. D-Lab electronics has a future need for an auto-ranging meter. This was a good opportunity for initial testing and thoughts. So far, I am very impressed. More testing will follow. Sorry this on ran so long, but at least you get to hear some good stories! Great memories of the USAF.
