Sabbath Among Christians

Last lesson we looked at the meaning of Sabbath. Understanding Jesus is the Lord of the Sabbath. The Old Testament Sabbath was a shadow of the Sabbath that Jesus would bring. Jesus said, Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30 28.  As those who believed were added to the Church became a unique community. Diverse cultures blended into a new family. Isaiah prophesized about  this new Christian community  The wolf shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the young goat, and the calf and the lion and the fattened calf together; and a little child shall lead them.7 The cow and the bear shall graze; their young shall lie down together; and the lion shall eat straw like the ox.8 The nursing child shall play over the hole of the cobra ,and the weaned child shall put his hand on the adder's den.9 They shall not hurt or destroy in all my holy mountain; for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the LORD as the waters cover the sea.( Isaiah 11:6-9) This doesn’t mean that there wouldn’t be some difficulties. In the first century Church there problems among Christians.  So, can we achive a sabbath (rest, peace) among Christians? YES, but we must understand what to focus on and it’s not on self!
