Ricky Ponting has said that Brian Lara won more games for his team than Sachin Tendulkar. The former Australian captain believes that West Indies' legend Lara was capable of turning the tide of a match quickly and that he did it more often than Tendulkar by www.cricketcountry.com
The debate over who is the better batsman and finisher between Tendulkar and Lara and to some extent Ponting was always an important topic amongst cricket fans and experts. If Tendulkar had any real criticism then it was his inability to win matches for India single handedly. On too many occasions Tendulkar's best knocks came in draws or losses.
Whereas Lara's greatest praise is directed at his ability to win matches all on his own. Some of Lara's finest knocks have come under extreme pressure and have resulted in victories. Many of them have been against Australian teams of which Ponting has been a part of. While Ponting has witnessed some match winning innings by Tendulkar against his side, there is a belief that India were not totally down and out in those matches. West Indies most certainly were.
