Julia Creek is proudly situated on the Overlander’s Way, the main travelling route from Townsville that runs all the way to Tennant Creek in the Northern Territory. Located approximately 650km west of Townsville and 250km east of Mt Isa, Julia Creek lies in the heart of the Outback and is the business centre of the McKinlay Shire.
This area is suitable for self-contained RV’s and caravans and is located 1.3km on the eastern side of town. There are picnic tables plus BBQ’s and there are heaps of bins are provided. Cruiser bikes are available for free hire from the site. Theses bikes can be used to travel into town on the fully sealed walking and riding track, to get groceries and things you need. The town has so much to offer, the visitor centre in a must to see the Dunnart and the visitor centre gives you so much information about the surrounding areas to visit.
You must be Fully self contained which means a built in and/or propriety brand toilets secured in the van are accepted. The van must have a black water holding tank or toilet cassette Please don’t dumping of black/grey water No dumping of garbage No open fires. An ideal spot for fishing and a great location to just sit by the river all day in your attempts to catch dinner for that night. The only downfall of this location is that there are no amenities to use. There is a the Bulletin on the board that there were weekly bush dinners at the Julia Creek Caravan Park in town where visitors and locals got together around a campfire. The dinner is around $20 to $25 per person and everyone is invited.
