Eye allergies are very very common in children especially in the dry area like Bangalore or Ooty where there is lot of pollen along with dust and pollution. Eye allergies are usually self-limiting. Most of the times, the eye allergies occurs during season especially in the month of March, Aril and can persist till October. The causes for Eye allergies are basically dust, pollution or excessive pollen in the air. Treatment of eye allergies is basically prevention. As soon as the patient comes from outside, best thing is to wash the eye with plain water and wash the hands with soap and water. If a child is suffering from allergy, one can prescribe lubricating eye drops. If the lubricating eye drops are not sufficient, it is better to consult an eye surgeon who will be able to help you in treating the eye allergy. Many at times, the eye allergy occurs every year. So if a person is allergic and it keeps repeating yearly, there are preventive medicines which can be started before the season starts.
