I visited Awai Shrine in Kanonji City, Kagawa Prefecture. The main deity enshrined is Tentadama no Mikoto.
Approximately 3,000 hydrangeas are planted on the grounds, and a hydrangea festival is held on the third Sunday in June. The other names, ``Hydrangea Palace'' and ``Hydrangea Shrine,'' are said to have come to be called from this hydrangea.
