In this Luminar 4 tutorial we'll take a look at how to remove objects from your photos. The main tools for doing this are the Erase tool and Clone and Stamp tool. Firstly I'd seriously recommend doing your best to get your composition right "in camera". Think about your frame and what's included and whether you can move yourself OR the items in the shot to clean things up at the time of capture. However, this isn't always possible, or the moment will be lost if you don't click the shutter right there and then.

In these cases you can use crop tool to simply crop out objects at the edges of the frame, but for more centralised unwanted objects and distractions, you can use the clone tool, which copies one area of the photo and paints it over another. Or a more powerful tool is the Clone and Stamp tool, which is similar but copies an area and paints it back in somewhere else whilst matching the tonality and colours of the surrounding new area.

In this video, I use some simple family photos to demonstrate how easy these tools are to use and how they can quickly improve your images. All the best with your editing!

* This video is part of a series of training videos I created at the request of Skylum, and I'm re-sharing here with my audience with their permission. The complete playlist is accessible through my channel and there's a link at the end of the video too.

The course is aimed at helping beginner photographers get started with the software, whilst at the same time showing what Luminar and its artificial intelligence engine is capable of. If you're a Luminar 4 user or are brand new to this photo editing program I hope this video series is helpful to you.
