Python on Oracle DB - How to Use Python on Oracle Databases

In this episode, we’re going to learn how to use Python on Oracle databases by demonstrating the four CRUD statements (Create, Read, Update, Delete) against an instance of Oracle 11g.  Many developers create scripting against Oracle on a regular basis, and would benefit from being able to use Python for this purpose in addition to their regular tools.  Using Python and Pyodbc allow this to happen.  Pyodbc can be installed via pip; please note that we demonstrated this in the first video in this series.  See the link below.

Note that this requires installation of some product (like Instant Client) with the associated install that includes ODBC components for you to have success.  Make sure you can see your Oracle driver in your ODBC settings (32 or 64-bit) before continuing.
