Erschöpft und Müde: Long-Covid - Patientenbericht nach Apherese

Long Covid is a chronic disease with many symptoms. Patients may struggle with physical
performance problems, fatigue syndromes, neurological and/or cardiac problems months after
COVID-19 infection.

The causes are not yet fully understood. Suspected causes include organic damage from the initial
COVID-19 disease, ongoing inflammatory processes caused by still-active viral components, or
autoimmune reactions - i.e. malformed antibodies that attack the patient's own cells.

The risk of contracting Long Covid depends on the severity of the initial disease, gender, age and
previous illnesses. But living conditions and environmental medical factors also have an influence,
according to studies.
