In western Montana, 3G Beef and Geary Brothers Ranch have been raising cattle for more than 150 years. Today, Purina Animal Nutrition is an important part of both ranches’ cattle nutrition programs.
“Production goals on this ranch for me have been efficiency,” says Jake Geary , fifth generation rancher at Geary Brothers Ranch. “Every cow has got to be as efficient as possible.”
To help with efficiency and meeting their end goals, Purina® products are fed to the cattle throughout the year. Purina® Wind and Rain® mineral paired with Purina® protein tubs has aided both ranches with maximizing their grazing resources.
“Having a consistent salt and mineral program…it’s really helped us get that efficiency we want out of every one of these cows,” says Geary.
Another important part of 3G Beef and Geary Brothers Ranch’s business is their relationship with their Purina® livestock product specialist, Mike Wilson. He regularly works with them to create a nutrition plan that works for their herds.
“We take a four-square approach,” says Wilson.
The four areas of focus are genetics, health, management and nutrition.
