What is an AGM  battery?

Well first of all, AGM stands for "Absorbent Glass Mat", which is a type of a separator used in the construction of the battery. AGM batteries have a relatively small amount of acid, which is absorbed by the AGM separator. This allows the battery to be spill-proof. AGM batteries are also sealed, allowing them to be maintenance-free. AGM batteries are also sometimes referred to as VRLA or SLA. VRLA "stands for valve regulated lead acid". SLA stands for "sealed lead acid".

AGM Battery Advantages:

1. Spill-proof due to acid absorption in matting technology
2. Provides high power and low internal resistance
3. Charges 5x faster than flooded batteries technology
4. Higher cycle life than flooded batteries
5. Vibration resistance due to its sandwich-like construction
6. Stands up well to cold and hot temperatures

AGM Battery Applications:

AGM batteries are used for a countless number of applications. To give you an idea of the applications, here are some examples:

1. Alarm system
2. UPS
3. Cars
5. Planes
6. Motorcycles
7. Wind energy
8. Solar energy
9. Emergency exit signs
10. Backup power
