Use of Colisure kit to count coliform bacteria in water (2 of 2)

Welcome to our suite of NUI Galway Microbiology teaching videos. We hope that they will guide you in performing your experiments in a scientific and safe manner. In this video (2 of 2) we use the Colisure kit to determine the total coliform and Escherichia coli counts in a 100 ml water sample that has been incubated at 37°C. Total coliforms are indicated by a colour change from yellow to red/magenta. If E. coli is present then the sample will also fluoresce. The final total coliform and E. coli counts are determined by comparing the individual counts to the provided most probable number (MPN) table.
