UPDATE: This video shows using Atom as the editor but this is no longer the officially supported software. Visual Studio Code with the Auto Build Marin extension is preferred, I have a guide to setting it up here: Updated Marlin firmware setup guide -...

By request: A guide to migrating to Marlin 2.0 from the older Marlin 1.1.9. Marlin 2.0 is required to compile firmware for any 32 bit boards, and still maintains support for 8 bit AVR based boards (like the Ender 3/5 1284P or Mega 2560).

This video compares the two firmware versions, then takes you step by step in setting up the required software, making firmware configuration changes, compiling and updating the printer. I've also included some troubleshooting tips for issues I've come up against.

Editing firmware is daunting at first but is a worthwhile task as it will let you customise your printer and unlock its potential.
