Laundry Street, formally known as Argyle Street, is located in the bustling district of Mong Kok in Kowloon, Hong Kong. The name "Laundry Street" originates from a unique historical background.
In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, many Indian soldiers were stationed in Hong Kong. These soldiers and their families needed someone to do their laundry. Local residents in the Argyle Street area began to open laundry shops and stalls specifically to provide laundry services for these soldiers. As a result, a large number of laundry businesses concentrated on this street, and over time, people started to refer to Argyle Street as "Laundry Street."
Although the street has undergone significant changes and is now a thriving commercial area, the name "Laundry Street" has persisted and is still used by many people.
洗衣街（Laundry Street），正式名称是亚皆老街（Argyle Street），位于香港九龙的旺角地区。洗衣街这个名称源于历史上的一段独特经历。
在19世纪末至20世纪初，许多印度籍士兵驻扎在香港。这些士兵及其家属需要有人帮忙洗衣服，于是一些当地居民便在亚皆老街附近开设了洗衣店和洗衣摊，专门为这些士兵提供洗衣服务。由于这条街上集中了大量洗衣店，久而久之，亚皆老街便被人们称作“洗衣街”。
洗衣街这个名称一直流传至今，尽管现在这条街已经发生了很大变化，成为一个繁华的商业区，但这个名字依然被许多人记住并使用。
