David has spent more than 30 years in and around the martial arts industry. Starting with more traditional martial arts such as Tae Kwon Do, Goju-ryu karate and classical  (Japanese) Jiu Jitsu, David has since expanded into various other systems along the way. He has trained extensively in Bruce Lee's Jeet Kune Do, Israeli Krav Maga, various systems of Filipino Martial Arts such as Kali, old Keysi Fighting Method, and Defence Lab fight science.

David has also spent a considerable amount of time in teaching several of these systems. It is his belief that we all have the potential to not only have the means and skill to defend ourselves in dire circumstances, but that we should also use our training as a channel to better improve our everyday lives. David considers himself a lifetime student, and while he may be teaching, he is always learning and trying to improve.

If David is the mook, Katherine is the screws holding it to the wall. She runs the business side of things and edits many of the videos. She designs most of the merchandise, and schedules the trips. She directs the content for Lycan's Women's Self-Defense channel.

Katherine got her business degree from the University of Oklahoma in 2006, and started running shortly thereafter. It was a few more years until she began studying violence (2012), beginning with reading Kathy Jackson’s “Lessons From Armed America,” at the suggestion of a coworker. That book lead to Rory Miller’s “Meditations on Violence” and that book opened up a whole new world of curiosity. After that, Katherine began Krav Maga training at Crucible Krav Maga in the DFW area in 2014. It wasn’t long before she met and married David, and now she gets free private training. But seriously, David introduced her to Jeet Kune Do, which she really enjoys training with him.
