Here's a very rare single on the private 'Action Records' label, of the pre-Moby Grape group The Frantics. This single is much different than their earlier rock-and-roll output. In 1966 the 13th Floor Elevators arrived in San Francisco and played numerous gigs at local venues, including the Fillmore and Avalon Ballroom. It is likely that "Monkey Island" directly influenced Don Stevenson and Jerry Miller for this A-side.

LYRICS:
Come on in and join the human monkey
Come on in and take a seat with the fool
Come on in and join the human monkey
All you got to do is just play by our rule, yeah

Ahh ahh, ahh ahh
Ahh ahh, ahh ahh

When I say jump you got to jump so high, yeah yeah
When I say do you got to do all that
Yours is not to reason why, you fool
Yeah

Ahh ahh, ahh ahh
Ahh ahh, ahh ahh

Well now you can say you're part of the human race, hey yeah
And you stand in the mirror and take a good long look at your face
But if you knew what I knew about you, you'd be a psycho case
And still it winds up, oo you're a soul disgrace
When you do, your soul ain't got no place to hear
You ugly monkey, hey you, get out of my face

(Ahh ahh, ahh ahh) Come on in
(Ahh ahh, ahh ahh) Ahh, we'll be together
(Ahh ahh, ahh ahh) I don't want nobody else
(Ahh ahh, ahh ahh) I don't need two monkeys baby
