This is the (second part of the) third video in my series of videos on Apollonius of Perga - Treatise on Conic Sections. Parts 3(a) and 3(b) were originally supposed to be a single video but it turned out to be a bit too long so I had to split it down into two.
This video covers some of the propositions from Book I of the Treatise dealing with realtionships between different diameters and ways for determining the parameter of a conic with reference to a particular diameter.
The propositions have a very geometric feel to them in comparison to some of the earlier propositions (which rely heavily on manipulation of ratios and proportions); these propositions rely much more on manipulation and comparisons of areas of elementary shapes.
