Recently, American Express sent me a special two part book to go over. It was Amex's black card presentation of their new experience that they are promoting as part of their enhancements to one of the most desired and highly sought after credit cards in the world. Technically, it is a charge card and not a credit card, but that is a topic for later discussion.
The Amex Black Card is one of the hardest credit cards to get. First, it was originally rumored to be a credit cards for the elites in Hollywood, and top tier Amex members, and derived from Jerry Seinfeld wanting a credit card that would differentiate him from the American Express Platinum community. That is how many are saying the Centurion card was created and he was the first original member.
As time went on, American Express has added load of new features, offerings, and quality service and support to their members. They also added Centurion Lounges at Airports. With the Centurion Card becoming mainstream, the demand has increased and with increased demand, so has the price. Amex now charges $5,000 annually for the Black Card. On top of that, first time members, pay a whopping $10,000 one time fee to become a member.
In this video, I go over what American Express sent to me in the mail, which also introduces two new Centurion Art Cards and I have to choose one with your help. Amex also explains their new iconic look design which they changed in 2009.
