How to make friends in a new country

Here are my tips on meeting people and making friends in a new country that's I've picked up and used over the past few years! It's hard to make friends and meet new people when you're moving abroad as an expat, or just traveling to a new country. (Remember kids - stranger danger! Always tell someone you trust where you're going and who you're meeting. I'd suggest meeting at day time in a public place).
MORE ABOUT THE RESOURCES I MENTIONED:
Facebook groups - Find groups of expats or other things which interest you (even apartment hunting!) in the area you're moving to to find out useful info and get in touch with people where you're moving at the same time.
Couchsurfing.com - The platform is like a free AirBnB, but you can look for free events, or reach out to local hosts who might be willing to meet up for a coffee.
Meetup.com - You can search for events from a huge range of categories in your area. Great for finding people who are into your interests, or other networking events.
Language events - Find them online or through word of mouth, but they're the jackpot for a mix of expats and locals!
Tandem Partner - Use these tools to get to know a local one on one and improve your language skills at the same time!
Conversation Exchange.com - A great platform specifically for finding a tandem partner.
Instagram - Search the insta map or hashtags for people in the area who might be up for meeting up. Slide into the DMs (don't be weird about it) and see if they'd like to meet for a coffee!
Cafés, bookshops etc. - Get chatting to people there, and look out for local events being advertised.
Colleagues - Even if they're not you're type, head out with them for drinks and meet there friends. At the start it's all about extending your network!
Ask your friends - Ask friends and families for contacts in the city as a starting point.
