Sunday, November 25, 2018: tens of thousands of Romanians came to Bucharest to live a historic event and learned that history is not theirs. Although they traveled hundreds of kilometers to participate in the sanctification of the National Cathedral, the cathedral appeared to them as a chimney shrouded in fog, which they had to look at from afar, climbing the fences and fenced by the gendarmes. Only clergy, politicians, and those who have seen generous sponsorship have access to the job. The common people remained in the street, enduing the cold and clinging to each other. There was not much between them and the Church. There were also the sumptuous limousines, the glittering turbans, and the soft beds at Marriott, where the prelates were accommodated and invited to the agape. The cathedral opened its doors only after midday, when the faithful who had come from the country had already gone to the coach: disappointed, frozen and confused by the vastness of the boulevards. A symbolic image of the Centenary Year remained behind them: the image of a cursed nation being humiliated and treated with contempt by the institutions that should serve it.
