হবিগঞ্জ-৪ আসনের সংসদ সদস্য ও সুপ্রিম কোর্টের আইনজীবী ব্যারিস্টার সৈয়দ সায়েদুল হক সুমন বলেছেন, সিলেটকে প্রটেকশন দেওয়ার জন্য সবাইকে একত্রিত হতে হবে। এখন সিলেটের ব্যাপারে কোনো আওয়ামী লীগ, বিএনপি, জাতীয় পার্টি শোনা যাবে না। শোনা উচিত হবে না। সিলেটকে রক্ষা করার জন্য একসঙ্গে ঝাঁপিয়ে পড়তে হবে সবাইকে।
তিনি আরও বলেন, আমাদের এলাকার নেতারা যখন মন্ত্রী হন তখন দেখা যায় তাদের শ্বশুরবাড়ি সিলেটের বাইরে থাকে। যার কারণে শ্বশুরবাড়ির উন্নয়ন করতে করতে আর সিলেটের কথা মনেই থাকে না। আমি ভাই মন্ত্রী হই নাই। আর এলাকাতেই বিয়ে করেছি। এজন্য আমার এলাকার মানুষ বেশ শান্তিতে আছে।
