Community aquariums are something I’ve loved exploring from the moment I got into this hobby. In this video, learn about the tank mates in my 6 different tanks. I'll highlight the unique combinations of fish, snails, and shrimp that coexist harmoniously. The tanks range in size from 10 to 20 gallons and each has a distinct set of inhabitants.
The first tank is a 10-gallon home to Blue Dream Shrimp, Amano Shrimp, Pygmy Corydoras, Chili and Dwarf Rasboras, a Nerite Snail, and Ramshorn Snails. The different species occupy various levels in the water column, ensuring a balanced environment.
The second tank, a 20-gallon long, houses Red Cherry Shrimp, a Honey Gourami pair named Sonny and Daisy, Guppies, Galaxy Rasboras, Kuhli Loaches, Spotted Borneo Loaches, Amano Shrimp, and Ramshorn Snails.
The third tank is a 15-gallon Fluval Flex with Green Jade Shrimp, a Powder Blue Dwarf Gourami named Sonic, Beckford's Pencilfish, Ember Tetras, and Ramshorn Snails. The gourami is somewhat territorial but mostly stays in the top level.
The fourth tank, another 15-gallon Fluval Flex, contains Red Rili Shrimp, a Bamboo Shrimp, Green Neon Tetras and a Cardinal Tetra, Neon Green Rasboras, female Guppies, and Ramshorn Snails. The Green Neon Tetras are skittish but peaceful, and the Bamboo Shrimp is a peaceful filter feeder.
The fifth tank, initially a breeding project for Red Cherry Shrimp, includes Rosy Loaches, Otocinclus Catfish, Harlequin Rasboras, Neon Tetras, Amano Shrimp, Nerite Snails, and a Bamboo Shrimp named King Kong. The Rosy Loaches are active bottom dwellers, and the Otocinclus Catfish are peaceful herbivores.
The final tank is a 7-gallon cube housing Blue Velvet Shrimp, a Honey Gourami fry, and Ramshorn Snails. It's used as a grow tank for the fry.
