Intellectually, a highly gifted child is capable of abstract thought and complex problem solving. Behaviorally, this subset of children can experience highly developed emotions that lead to greater empathy, awareness of moral issues and injustices, as well as an increased interest in philosophical discussion. The combination of these cognitive and affective differences can lead to a social detachment between highly gifted children and other students at their age level. The Scholars Difference At The Scholars Academy we provide the rigorous, differentiated education that highly gifted children deserve, enabling them to learn alongside academic peers. This not only translates to teaching an accelerated curriculum; it means allowing our staff and students the time and flexibility to dive deeper into material. Our classrooms are buzzing with students who are intellectually engaged, who are encouraged to think critically, and who learn to become global citizens. Our curriculum features in-depth Socratic seminars, project-based learning, hands-on science labs and STEM projects, foreign languages for K-8, middle school elective courses, and many field trips.
