If You're Going To Write A Historical novel, Take My Advice

I know that, as authors, we have to make executive decisions about whether something is historically accurate (or physically possible) comes after the story (like if you need to knock out a character with no medical repercussions, not realisitc but important to the story). But people in Manchester don't sound like people in London and neither sound like people in Yorkshire and I'm tired of reading it in historical novels.
