Hola! In this lesson we will be dealing with the differences between a single and a double r when instead in Spanish some students find challenging the sound of the rolling r but by the end of the lesson you will see that it's not that difficult obviously with a bit of practice in spanish we can have a single r or a double r the first one is called erre and the second one doble compare the sound of these two words first one
meaning expensive caro is just a single r when you have two it is a rolling caro and again the difference is between caro and caro
another example for single r would be oro oro which means gold
double our hair makes it rolling r so it is perro perro a dog however a single r at the beginning sounds rolling off
radio radio
that's a hard word i know but it means either a watch or a clock if you still find it difficult to pronounce there are a few tips first remember to place the tongue behind your teeth not between your teeth just behind your teeth two only the tip of your tongue slightly touches your palate this tickles your palate and the third when you breathe out the air do it in a short burst so that the tip of your tongue can vibrate
it might not be natural for you at the beginning but do not give up and here we have some tongue twisters for you to practice with the r don't worry about the meaning it's just a bit silly concentrate in the sounds
look at the first word perro
at the beginning and the same with the word rabo el perro de roque no tiene rabo
this is probably a bit harder but the first one second and third one are single rs at the beginning rapido ruedan ruedas and the second word have two double r's which is not common but in this case is ferrocarril and the third one ramon rodriguez are all examples of rolling r's at the beginning
so the things to remember here are that a single r becomes rolling r if it's the first letter of the word
and a double r always sounds as a rolling r in any other case the r's are pronounced as a singular
